The Khaos Junkies: News

Remembering our good friend and sound guy Bob Bishop - March 1, 2019

To all our beloved Khaos Junkie Fans,

It is with a broken heart that I am writing to inform you that our long time close friend and sound guy, Bob Bishop, passed away unexpectedly on February 20th, 2019. On behalf on everyone in the band we send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all of Bob's family and friends, especially his wife Christine and three children. May God grant all of you the peace, strength and faith to get through this difficult time.

Bob worked the sound board and system for the Khaos Junkies for many years. Bob was always the first to arrive at any of our shows, setting up the equipment, testing the sound and making sure everything was just right so we could perform at our best. Bob was also a stickler at band practice, making sure we stayed focused and didn't screw around too much! Not only was Bob our sound guy, but he was a good friend, always eager to help a friend in need, no matter what the situation was. For all these things and so much more we say THANK YOU to Bob for the man he was. We will miss him dearly.

That said, we make the same commitment to him and his family as we have in the past with two other of our band members who have passed on...............that commitment is to honor Bob and them by keeping the music of the Khaos Junkies alive and well for a long time to come.

Rest in peace Bob. May God make us worthy to enjoy the pleasure of your company again someday when we too reach the "other side".

LIVE GIG UPDATE - May 11, 2018

Hello to all the faithful Khaos Junkie fans out there! Wanted to update you on the band's plan for the Spring/Summer of 2018. The band has decided to take a few months off to re-energize! Long overdue and well deserved rest for all members!

That said, the band is still available to be booked for several open dates during this sabbatical to do anyone's private party or backyard barbecue! Just call Cathy at 774-276-2208 for more information and to book the band.

Meanwhile, enjoy the summer, be safe and be ready to ROCK come Fall!

6-22-17 Remembering Christopher Wood ("Woody") - June 22, 2017

To all our beloved Khaos Junkies fans,

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I write you today as we mourn the loss of our bass player, Chris Wood.....a.k.a. "Woody", who passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 14th, 2017. All of us involved with the band are totally devastated. We will miss our friend Woody dearly. He was an incredibly gifted musician with a beautiful spirit that brought a peaceful calm to all of us whenever we practiced or played live. All of us in the band send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Woody's wife Patty, all of his family members and all of his loved ones and friends.

Our band members are committed to one thing...........keeping the music of The Khaos Junkies going in Woody's honor. Although it will not be easy, we will all get through this. Somehow we just need to accept that Woody is now at peace and is no longer suffering. As the band heads to practice this evening to meet and discuss our future plans including the status of upcoming gigs, continuing to work on our next CD, which Woody and I had just completed recording all of the "rough cuts" together in his basement's home studio, who we want to have audition for potential new band members, etc., etc., we won't be able to help but feel Woody's presence with us as we plug in our amps and mics. We all know he would want us to carry on. That goes without saying. His dedication to our music was unparalleled. We will all miss him dearly. God knows he will miss performing on stage for all of you as well.

Today all of us who knew Woody have an emptiness inside us and we are all at a loss for words. I'm so sorry to have to inform all of you of this sad news. Life is so, so short so please embrace it, treasure it & be grateful for it. Hope to talk to and see you all soon.

Peace & love,

David DiPilato...........a.k.a...........Dubble D

Quick update on KJ Changes - October 28, 2016

Hey KJ fans! One thing is for changes! Yes we can attest to that fact as we have had our share of changes with the Khaos Junkies band. I wanted to share another recent one with you in regard to band members. We had to say goodbye to John O'Connell as our lead guitarist. We thank John for all of his hard work and contributions to the band over the past several months and the energy he brought to our live performances. We all wish John the very best in his future endeavors. John has been replaced by former lead guitarist, Chris Stackhouse. We welcome Chris back to the band and look forward to having him bring out the very musical best of this band!!

Check out our calendar to see where and when we are performing live!!!

Hope to cya soon!

Band Update - May 31, 2016

Hey KJ fans! Hope you all survived the long Memorial Day Weekend safely. Just wanted to do a quick update for all of you as to the status of the band. Steve and I want you to join us in a warm welcome for our new band members, John O'Connell on lead guitar and Chris Wood on bass guitar. Steve and I have been working with these guys since February now and we've been practicing really hard for our upcoming live shows. These guys both know how to "bring it" and we are very much looking forward for all of you to experience the new found energy they bring to the band. We hope to see all of you out there starting with the Kasbar show next Friday night. We can't wait to get back to kicking ass at live shows!!

Some of you have asked about the status of the second CD project. As you know, there are only so many hours in a day. All members of the Khaos Junkies have day jobs, families and many other responsibilities, which often pull all of us in different directions from time to time. Some of the changes the band has endured over the last few years have been pretty intense, to say the least. However we have survived these changes as I was confident we would. At this time I have to honestly say that the second CD project is on "a burner", not exactly the "back burner" but just not in full discussion at this least for the very immediate future.

From my side of things, the songs have been written, edits have been made, and selections for the CD have been decided upon. Once the band rocks out with our new members back out on the live show scene this summer, we will discuss going into the studio to record the second CD, possibly as early as this fall, but hopefully no later than next winter. I want to thank all of you for your patience and your loyalty on this front during the transitions the band has undergone over the last few years. No one said change would be easy!!

So with that I say to all of you..............keep rockin" and I hope to see you all at an upcoming show!

MORE CHANGES - December 15, 2015

Hey KJ fans,

Wanted to bring you all up to speed on what's happening with the band. Yes unfortunately there are more changes!

About a month ago, Conrad Mlynarski, our bass player, made the decision to quit the band to pursue opportunities with a tribute band he joined earlier this year. We wish him the best of luck and thank him for his contributions to the Khaos Junkies. A couple of week's ago, Chris Stackhouse, our lead guitarist, came to my office to see me and informed me that he can no longer commit the time to the band. He is really torn up about it but told us he needs to step away from music right now and tend to some much bigger life challenges. We will miss him dearly and wish him the best with meeting those challenges and we thank him for his contributions to the band as well.

So drummer Steve Angelone and I are back to where we were a couple of years search of a lead guitarist and a bass guitarist. If any of you out there know of anyone looking to join a great band and who possesses the kind of raw talent that Connie and Chris has please contact either me or Steve so we can give them a chance to audition. These guys will be really tough to replace but Steve and I are confident that we will find the right rockers for the job in due time!

So right now the band is in limbo as are any upcoming gigs we have booked. However, this too shall pass and we look forward to rocking out with you again when the time is right, which hopefully will be soon. Until then we want to once again thank all of you for your dedicated support of the band and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year. Keep rockin'!!!!

Summer of 2015 - August 3, 2015

Hey KJ fans,

Can't believe it's already August!!! Where the hell does the time go? A good friend of mine who has about 10 years on me (I won't reveal any names) says wait DD, it (time) only goes by even faster when you get to be my age!!! What the hell is up with that?

It seemed like only a few weeks ago we were waiting for the record breaking snow piles to melt and now here we are with the 4th of July already passed and now entering August! It just doesn't seem fair! We wait all year for these hot summer months and they just fly by!

Anyway, wanted to briefly bring everyone up to date on the band and what's up for the rest of this year. We got a couple of shows this month; one at the Kasbar in Worcester, MA on Friday August 21st and another at Uncle Ronnies in Burrillville, RI on Saturday August 29th. The band has been experimenting with a few "new" classic rock cover songs, which we will surprise you with at both shows. We hope you like!
The band has been enjoying a few weeks off as of late for vacations, etc. and can't wait to play our next gig for you. Be sure to tell a friend about us and bring them along to the next show. Remember only you can help us to expand our KJ fan base.

We've got several other shows taking us into the fall with a couple of open dates still available to take us to the remainder of 2015. We have been talking with several new venues for possible 2016 dates along with our regular venues, which we will begin booking for 2016 soon. All good stuff!!

I hope all of you are enjoying your Summer of 2015 and we all look forward to seeing you at an upcoming show. Be safe.

Peace and rock on!!!!

New Band Members - January 1, 2014

To all Khaos Junkies fans, Club Owners and Promoters,

I just wanted to bring you all up to date as to where things are with the band. As you all know, 2013 was a difficult year for the Khaos Junkies. We had band members leave, we had band members dealing with some difficult personal situations, and worst of all we had to try and cope with the tragic death of our former lead guitarist Dave Cuneo last January. It’s been a rough road but if you are anything like the optimist that I am, you have faith that this precious life of ours is something to be treasured and that things eventually work out for the better. Bad times or situations eventually pass. Things settle down and work themselves out and before you know it you are off on a new path in life that holds nothing but good times once again.

With that said, I have been busy working hard to put together a new Khaos Junkies band over the past several months. My good friend and awesome drummer, Steve Angelone, and I started jamming together last year and now have added lead guitarist, Chris Stackhouse and bass guitarist, Conrad Mlynarski to the mix. We have been practicing hard together learning both a wide variety of new cover tunes along with the original Khaos Junkie material. The jam sessions are going great and we all anticipate and look forward to getting out there to do some live gigs really soon this year.

As far as the next CD project, that once again has had to be put on hold until we get this new train well-oiled and rollin’! It's ok cuz rock has no time limits!! Hopefully we can start the project before the end of 2014.

There will be more news to follow as we make progress. Hope to cya soon out at one of our shows! Until then,

David..........a.k.a............Dubble D

Dave Cuneo Gone but not Forgotten - January 15, 2013

It is with immense sadness that I share with you the news of Dave Cuneo's passing from this life. Dave died on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013. David's obituary stated "that he was an incredibly talented and gifted, well-known musician in the Worcester area and played in many venues in Boston, Worcester, as well as Europe throughout his life. He played for many years with his two brothers and their two close friends. David was passionate about music and the arts but is most cherished for his peaceful, humble spirit and incredible generosity towards his fellow human beings and animals."

How Dave and I got together is attributed to my good friend Jason James. When I was in search of a new lead guitarist for the Khaos Junkies in the fall of 2011 I called Jason and asked if he knew of anyone. Well aware of my love for the music of the Stones, Jason told me he had just the guy for me. He gave me Dave's number and right from the first time we practiced together we hit it off. Dave joined the band that fall and provided us with the raw energy we were looking for on lead.

I told Dave numerous times that I'd been looking to play with someone like him my entire life. Dave and I shared a similar passion for music. Not only could he play the Stones licks like Keith and Ronnie, but Dave had a way about him that was different from a lot of other musicians I've played with before. He was one of the most humble and grateful human beings I'd ever met, which allowed us to connect on many levels, not just musical. Dave was so looking forward to rebuilding the Khaos Junkies in 2013 with me and towards getting into the recording studio together to do the band's next CD. Now we'll never get that chance because he's gone, which deeply saddens me. Well Dave you are gone, but my good friend you will NEVER EVER be forgotten. Your spirit lives on. I will do that next CD in your honor when the time is right. Until then I want to say thank you to God for the good times we had together and for all that we shared. May you rest in peace.

Changes - August 29, 2012

Chchchchanges! Life deals you a belly full every now and then! Just when you think the dust has settled, well to put it bluntly, more dust gets kicked up by forces beyond one's control! The band has officially split up. Steve Shaughnessy and Rick Swenson have both left the band to pursue other personal interests. We wish them all the best of luck in life and love and thank them kindly for their past contributions to The Khaos Junkies.

Meanwhile soundman, Bob Bishop and I continue to interview potential replacement band members. I am also putting the finishing touches on the songs for the next album and plan to go into the studio later this year or early next year with or without a band. Dave Cuneo and I have been staying fresh by jamming with some friends and auditioning potential band replacements, however we haven't quite found the right mix of peeps yet to complete The Khaos Junkies. We will continue our search and keep you posted on future gigs and the next CD.

Until then, be patient, be kind, be happy and live life as more will be revealed.

Summer Update - June 5, 2012

Hey Khaos Junkie fans,

What a year it's been so far!! Lots of rock, lots of gigs, lots of work and lots of changes!! We are taking the summer off to re-group (literally!!!), re-organize and re-energize. I can't tell you exactly what's happening with the band, but can assure you it is all good! Very much looking forward to working with some musicians that are as enthusiastic as me when it comes to working in a band and rockin' out!

Surprises down the road?? Oh yeah! We'll have a few and believe me you won't be disappointed! Especially when it comes to the live gigs!! Everyone involved is also very much excited about getting into the studio later this year hopefully to begin, finish and release our second CD, which now unfortunately won't be ready till sometime next year. They say patience is a virtue, they say things happen for a reason, they say nothing changes if nothing changes..........who are "they" anyways!! LOL!!

All I can tell you is that the Khaos Junkies will continue to rock on!

Enjoy your summer, be safe, & cya soon!

David.......a.k.a........Dubble D

Happy New Year - January 19, 2012

Happy New Year to all you "junkies & junkettes"!! The band is ready to bust into 2012 with lots of energy! As mentioned in the last Khaos Junkie news update, we have a new lead guitarist on board, Dave Cuneo, who takes over for Rich Dacier. As most of you already know, Rich left the band to pursue other musical interests of his own. We all wish him the very best of luck, something he really won't need because he's an awesome musician. Meanwhile, Dave brings a fresh new sound to the Khaos Junkies with his lead guitar style as we begin to "rock in" the new year. Dave's raw, edgy guitar sound is something The Khaos Junkies have been looking for and we are glad we found it!

Given the recent changes in the band and with our sound guy, our second CD project has been pushed back a bit further. We can only do what we can in a day!! We are looking forward to working on the project once things settle down a bit. Meanwhile the band has been practicing hard and we look forward to playing a bunch of gigs in the Central Massachusetts area for you as some of our favorite venues have booked us already for multiple performances in 2012. We’ll have a bunch of new cover tunes for you along with some old favorites and of course some original material including some new songs destined for the new CD.

So get ready to rock, shine up those dancin' shoes and we'll cya soon!!

Turkey Day Update - November 22, 2011

First and foremost to all of our beloved Khaos Junkie fans...............THANK YOU for all of your support! We truly appreciate it. We want to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Now for a quick update on the band..........A wise man told me that "nothing changes if nothing changes". How true, how true! Most of you know that our awesome lead guitarist, Rich Dacier, will be leaving the band to pursue other opportunities come the first of the upcoming year. We will all miss Rich, not only for his incredible talent on lead guitar, but for who he is as a person. Not only will Rich's sweet guitar tones be missed by all but so won't his contribution and dedication to the band. We wish him the best of luck in his new venture and know that we are not saying good bye for good, but rather just "so long for now, we will see ya soon to jam again"!!

It took awhile but the band has finally found another lead guitarist. His name is Dave Cuneo. Dave will be playing a set or two during the band's next couple of gigs and will take over on lead guitar for Rich Dacier in January, 2012. We welcome Dave to the band and feel that he will be a huge compliment to the band's raw rock sound. We all look forward to working with Dave.

The band's second CD project had to be put on hold this fall due to the attention given to find a new lead guitarist. I am incredibly anxious to get back to work on the project with the band during the winter months. As with any new project we realize there will be a huge time commitment needed to making this CD even better than the first. Everyone is excited and looking forward to getting into the studio hopefully sometime in mid-2012. We will keep you posted.

Lastly, we were just informed that Ted Lanman, our kick-ass sound man, will be leaving the band as well come the first of 2012 for personal reasons. Ted has been the rock behind our "ROCK", and he will be truly missed. Ted has offered to stay on as needed as new sound man, Bob Bishop gets a handle on the band's sound. We look forward to working with Bob.

That's it for now...........Hope to see ya at our next show!

David.........a.k.a..........Dubble D

Summer Update - July 21, 2011

To all Khaos Junkie fans..........Just a quick update on what we have going on........first and foremost...........LOTS OF GIGS!!!!!!!!! The band is booked solid for 2011 and we already have 17 gigs booked for 2012!! A huge thank you to everyone who shows up at the gigs as it's all because of you that the band gets invited back to some of our favorite venues.
Secondly, we currently are in the midst of a fund raiser for what we believe is a worthy cause.........feeding the hungry & helping the homeless. We sent out an email asking everyone in our fan base to go to our web site and purchase 1 copy of our CD entitled "What's On The Way". We have teamed up with several local charities so that a portion of the proceeds goes towards these charities to help those in desperate need. We also asked everyone not only to pick up 1 copy but to tell a friend to do the same and have them tell a friend and so on.....this is our version of "Paying It Forward" if you will! So if you are reading this please pitch in and do your part! Thank you kindly.

The band has introduced some new cover material at some of our recent shows, which has been well received. As far as new original material goes, I also finished selecting the final list of songs for our next CD, which is very exciting!! I also completed editing the lyrics and melodies for all of the new tunes, which seems to take forever sometimes!! Now all the band needs is some free time to begin working on this next CD project.........anybody know where we can buy a good chunk of free time? There never seems to be enough of that precious commodity........TIME! However, we will try our best to make some time in between gigs in the upcoming months and most likely really get on with the project later this fall and into the winter. We are still shooting for a CD release sometime in gotta have goals!!!

Keep on rockin'!..........and we'll CYA soon!!!

David.........a.k.a..........Dubble D

Khaos Junkies Working Hard - March 27, 2011

Hey Khaos Junkie fans! Lots going on so far this year! 2011 has really started with a bang for the band. We've got 21 shows booked so far for this year at some of our favorite venues here in Central Massachusetts along with a few new venues! Our new bass player, Rick Swenson, is settling in with the band and has been well received by Khaos Junkie fans. Rick has been a great addition to the band, and let me tell ya..........Rick has got some pipes as well!!

We want to say thank you to all of you die hard Junkies & Junketts who love to rock and show up at virtually all of our gigs no matter where we play! And a great big thank you to everyone who's purchased our 1st CD, "What's On The Way". We continue to inch towards our sales goal so please, please continue to spread the word about the CD and about the band to your family and all of your friends. We need your help so we can raise the money needed for the next project so please tell everyone you know about us. Make sure you tell them that they can pick up a copy of the CD right here on our web site at or at any one of our gigs! We really appreciate it!

Besides booking a bunch of gigs the band has been practicing hard on some new cover material for the shows. We think you'll like!! I'm also getting very close to making the final song selections for our next CD. I have been working long and really hard finalizing the lyrics and melodies for all of the songs. Just a few more edits on a few of the tunes are needed and they will be ready for the band to start working on them! Then comes the fun part............the creative juices start to flow and the songs really begin to take shape! We are all very excited to get going on this second CD project!! Our plan is to get into the studio some time late this year or early next year so that we can shoot for a CD release date of mid 2012. Until then, just keep rockin'! Looking forward to a great year!! CYA soon!!!

David.........a.k.a..........Dubble D

Winter Band Update - January 21, 2011

Hey KJ fans! Hope you are keeping warm this winter! Just a quick note to update you on the band. Big news is that bassist Dave Kendrick will be leaving the band within the next month or so to pursue other interests. We will miss Dave tremendously and thank him for all of his contributions to the band and to our music. All the best Dave and remember to always, always ROCK ON!!

We are currently working with Rick Swenson, a young and talented local musician, who will eventually take over for Dave to provide the "bottom-end" energy for the band on bass. Rick will be doing a few sets here and there over our next few live shows so you can get a sneek-peek and listen to what he brings to the table. We think you will be quite pleased. We are all extremely excited about Rick joining the band!

Meanwhile sales of our first CD are going strong! I know I've said it a million times however I can't say thank you enough to all of you who have supported the band since we came out with "What's On The Way" last July. However, I can tell you that we always need your help in spreading the word about the CD and about the band. As you know, Indie bands depend heavily on their fans and following for marketing and promotion. We are no exception. So all we humbly ask of you is that you tell somebody about us, our band, our web site, our CD, whether it be in person, by email, voice mail, text, facebook, myspace, tweet or whatever!! You are our biggest marketing tool to help us get CD's sold and to help promote the band!

On another note, I have been working intensely on writing, editing and selecting songs and material for our next CD, which we plan to begin working together on later this fall. Until then, we will continue to practice hard each week and simply enjoy rocking out with you and doing the live gigs at local and some not-so-local establishments!

Hope to see you soon at a show!

David.........a.k.a..........Dubble D

The band and I are taking a break here in December and are enjoying the holidays. We've been practicing some new songs for our upcoming shows beginning in mid-January. We've got a few surprises for you and can't wait to spring them on you!! So please remember to be safe, not only during the holidays but each day after them. We want and need you around!! See you all at the Gas Light Cafe in Dudley on January 15th, 2011 to kick off what should prove to be a rockin' new year for the band!!

Band Update - October 19, 2010

Hey Khaos Junkie fans,

First and foremost, me and the guys in the band would like to send out a great big THANK YOU to everyone who has already picked up a copy of our first CD entitled, "What's On The Way". The level of support from you has been tremendous! We can't thank you enough! All that we humbly ask of you now is to continue spreading the word about the band and the CD to all of your rock music loving friends! They can pick up or download a copy right here on the website.

The band has been practicing hard each week on our music and working closely with local clubs on securing live gig dates in the Central Massachusetts area. Interest in the band and our music has been steadily rising everyday since the release of our first CD. Again, we are extremely grateful to all of you for making this happen!

Our plans for the immediate future include continuing to play live gigs at local and some not so local clubs. I have also started the arduous process of beginning to organize and coordinate ideas, material and songs for our next CD, which we hope to begin working on sometime next year. For now, we are really enjoying what we are doing, especially playing live! So come check us out at our next gig and bring some friends!

peace, David..........a.k.a..........Dubble D

First CD-What's On The Way - July 16, 2010

Welcome to the official Khaos Junkies Website! The band and I have some personal good news to share with you. We've been busy in the recording studio on weekends during the last 7 months working hard on our first CD entitled "What's On The Way". The CD has just been released and is on sale now here at our website and in local music stores. The guys in the band are calling upon all rock music lovers to help support and promote the band. We need your help to spread the word about the band and our music. The majority of the proceeds from the sale of CD's and merchandise will be used to cover the high cost of studio recording time, CD production and the cost of equipment for the band. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated by the band to a local charity. Anything you can do to help would be most appreciated. The band is having our CD Release Party on Saturday August 28th, 2010 at 9:00 PM at JJ’s Sports Bar & Grill (Rte 9 & 20 in Northboro, MA). We look forward to seeing you there! Thank you for your support. Peace, David………a.k.a…………Dubble D
